Preheat oven to 450°F. Add all dry ingredients to a bowl and stir.
Cube or shred cold butter, then stir it into the dry ingredients until it’s covered. Add the milk and stir until all the flour is incorporated. (Biscuit dough should be dry)
Sprinkle flour onto the counter and add the dough. Roll out the dough and fold it over on itself a few times, adding flour as needed.
Roll the dough out to about 1/2 an inch thick. Cut out 12 biscuits. (If using a round cutter, you may need to reroll the dough.) Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet or cast-iron skillet.
Bake at 450°F for 8 minutes. Brush the tops with melted butter. return to the oven and bake for another 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
