This sourdough pizza dough boasts a delightful flavor profile that elevates any pizza night. The recipe is straightforward, making it easy for both beginners and seasoned bakers to whip up in no time. One of my favorite features of this dough is its versatility; it can be used for various styles of delicious pizza flavors baked the same day, rolled into pizza rolls for an easy appetizer, or premade for the freezer and saved for a quick dinner. Additionally, the natural fermentation process imparts a unique taste and a chewy texture that enhances the overall eating experience. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party or enjoying a cozy night in, this sourdough pizza dough is sure to impress your guests and satisfy your cravings.

Freezing Pizza dough
One of my favorite things about this recipe is that the dough is suitable for freezing, allowing you to save it for future use. Since this recipe makes two pizza crusts, I will use one the day I make it and save the other for a quick and easy dinner another night. To freeze the raw dough, first, roll it into a ball. Then, wrap it securely in beeswax wrap or plastic wrap. After that, place the wrapped dough into a freezer-safe bag and store it in the freezer. This method will preserve the dough’s freshness for several months. When you’re ready to use the dough, simply remove it from the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature.
How To Make Premade Frozen Pizzas
A great way to prepare meals in advance is by making and freezing premade pizzas. Start by rolling out the dough into a 12-inch round and bake it at 350°F for about 10 minutes until it is slightly cooked. This step helps create a solid base. After that, add your favorite sauce and toppings to personalize your pizza. Next, place the assembled pizza in the freezer for a couple of hours to ensure the dough and toppings are well-frozen together. Once frozen, wrap the pizza tightly in plastic wrap for storage. When you’re ready to enjoy a delicious homemade pizza, simply remove the plastic wrap and bake it in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes. This will give you a beautifully crisp crust and perfectly cooked toppings. Enjoy your convenient and tasty meal!

Pizza Dough Ingredients
- Sourdough Starter: You can use either discard or active starter. Using discard will produce a thinner crust, while an active starter will allow the crust to rise more during fermentation, resulting in a fluffier texture.
- Water: I recommend using warm water (not hot) to help the dough ferment more quickly, although it’s not mandatory.
- Honey: This adds a touch of sweetness to the flavor of your dough. I prefer using local organic raw honey, but any type of honey will work just fine. You can also substitute honey with agave nectar at a 1:1 ratio.
- Oil: Oil helps enhance the texture of the crust. This recipe calls for olive oil, but you can easily substitute it with your preferred type of oil.
- Flour: My flour of choice is unbleached all-purpose flour, because I always have it readily available, but you can use any flour, including whole wheat or gluten-free options. though other flours may affect the texture of the crust.
- Garlic Salt: Garlic adds extra flavor; however, if you’d prefer, you can substitute it with 20g of regular salt.
